ARE YOU A CHILD OF GOD?
ARE YOU A CITIZEN OF GOS'S KINGDOM?
The Bible says, "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" (John 8:32).
Before going further, let us major on the first question. Who are you: A Christian? A true Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ. If you are a follower, it means that you have repented from your sins and forsaken your ungodly ways of life.
Your life style now follows after godliness, righteousness and truth that is in Christ Jesus (1 Thess. 4:7, Acts 3:19).
Peter asked Jesus a question: "Behold, we have forsake all and followed thee; what shall we have therefore ?" (Matt. 19:27). This question proved that the disciples had forsaken their personal will and had followed after the will of the Saviour.
Today, many people are serving God as they like instead of serving Him the way He wants us to serve Him. Besides, others are still halting between two opinions or procrastinating. yet they call themselves true Christians (Luke 9:57-62, John 2:6).
A follower is called a disciple. He is the one who received the gospel of the kingdom, believed the word and continued in the truth (John 8:30-31). The follower of Jesus Christ in Antioch were called Christian because the people around them noticed that they followed after the life and character of Jesus Christ (therefore, they were called Christians or people like Christ - Acts 11:26).
If you are not like Christ you are not a true Christian but a religious person (James 1:22-26). Besides, the scriptures says; "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Cor. 5:17).
DIVINE TRANSFORMATION:
The old things are your sinful life and ways that you must be free from. "Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strive, sedition, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling and such like: of which tell you before as I have told you in the past, that they which do such thing shall not inherit the Kingdom of God" (Gal. 5:19-21, Rom. 1:18-32).
God has the divine power to change and transform your heart and life and make you a new creature (Anew man or woman, a new boy or girl).
CHRISTIAN VIRTUES:
The scripture says; "According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust..." (2 Pet. 1:3-11, Prov.28:13, John 1:9, Rom. 10:9-10, John 8:36).
ALL THINGS MADE NEW:
It is the new life in Christ Jesus that is free from sin to enable you by grace to serve Him in truth and in Spirit, all the days of your life. "The oath which He swore to our father Abraham, that he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life" (Luke 1:73-75). "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit" (Rom. 8:1-2, John 4:23).
The question is: Are you still living in your old life, or have you been made new in Christ Jesus? Jesus is the giver of the new life, accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour and have the new life in you. Tomorrow may be too late (Heb. 2:3, 2 Cor. 6:2, John 3:16, 21). If the son(Jesus Christ) shall set you free, you shall be free indeed. God bless you. You can pray to the Lord now for mercy.
If you want to give your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, say this prayer; Lord God I confess my sins unto you and I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead for my justification. 1acknowledge that I cannot save myself. By His blood I am cleansed from my sins; am made a new creature; am saved today in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
